Description of solution
Summary (Challenges; Objectives)
Following 1999 floods, the flood protection dike had to be strenghtened, what also required a relocation of the Gennach. The river development was carried out under consideration of ecological aspects with changing river bed widths and slope inclinations. The right bank was not fortified, so a natural watercourse can develop again through self dynamic processes. This will create diverse habitats for flora and fauna. Access to the river was created for the population. 800 woods were planted as noise and sight protection against the neighboring road B 12.
