To reduce the water level, the Iller was widened in the section Burgberg.
The core of the Hagspielmoor is crossed by drainage ditches. Through these ditches the moor is still continuously drained, which leads to further degeneration. The district group Lindau of the Bund Naturschutz will carry out In several steps extensive scrub clearance and ditch closures. The measures will be implemented in cooperation with the Bergwaldprojekt e.V., which will carry out manual ditch closures and scrub clearance with the help of volunteers.
Just outside densely built-up area in Bergen, a 6km nature-trail has been built. The trail brings citizens closer to nature and gives great opportunities for recreation. The trail runs up on the mountains and in to the forest, and at selected points along the trail there are beautiful look-outs, picnic areas and places for children to play.

In 1978 the BUND Naturschutz and in 2006 the bavarian state forests have blocked drainage ditches in order to rewet the Beitenmoos.
The goal of this work is to protect the villages against floods and erosion of the riverbed.
Currently, the aquatic organisms of the Iller cannot migrate into the side water "Buxach". The passability is not given. The estuary area will be flattened to allow the habitats of the Iller and the "Buxach" to connect. The side waters serve the fish as spawning grounds or retreat places in case of flood. The measure is part of the project Agile Iller.
The Arlacher Weir is currently impassable for aquatic organisms such as fish or microorganisms moving along the river bed. Due to local conditions, the construction of a ramp is not possible. The passage is therefore made by a fish ladder. It runs along the bank next to the weir and connects the upper and lower water. Different variants, such as a near-natural bypass channel or a technical fish ladder are being investigated. Structural, hydraulic, ecological and economic criteria are compared for the different variants. The measure is part of the project Agile Iller.
Between 1860 and 1890 the Untere Salzach has been strongly regulated and several hydroelectric power plants were built. All together this lead to increased depth erosion. To prevent bridges, walls and dikes from getting undermined Bavaria and Austria used NBS. To stabilze the river bed 2009/2010 a river bed ramp has been built. To improve the bedload budget it is also planned to make more room for the river. The bank protection will be removed and structural measures (e.g. the implemention of deadwood) to improve the ecological situation will be implemented.

Over the years, a gravel bank between the Loisach and the Kochelsee was piled up due to wave action. To reconect the Altwasser to the Kochelsee the gravel was removed and the old river bed of the Loisach was restored. This allows fish to spawn and live in the old water again.
