The water authority Rosenheim converts a weir into a riverbed ramp. The goal of the measure is to stabilize the riverbed and to improve the ecological passability
The Werdensteiner Moos, with an area of approx. 85 ha, is one of the largest raised bogs in the district of Oberallgäu. Together with the litter meadows of the Oberdorfer Moos, it is designated as a FFH area and thus part of the European network of protected areas NATURA 2000. More than 30 years ago, the rewetting of the Werdensteiner Moos began. A moor trail leads around the moor with information about the history, the flora and fauna of the moor and its importance for the protection of biodiversity and the climate.
The goal of this work is to implement and improve protection against floods
Mountain road infrastructure is highly vulnerable to natural risks induced by climate change. The objective of the SECURUS project is to guarantee road safety against natural risks on the Bielsa–Aragnouet (Lannemazan–Aínsa) and Espacio Portalet (Laruns–Biescas) road links.
Following a first phase (SECURUS 1), the SECURUS 2 project continues to make progress in protecting the Bielsa-Aragnouet (Lannemazan-Aínsa) and Espacio Portalet (Laruns-Biescas) roadways so as to guarantee road user safety against natural risks. These road links require that stakeholders monitor and react to recurring natural risks by taking actions which go... more

BUND Naturschutz has carried out restoration work on 3.6 hectares of its own land in cooperation with the Life Project in the Kendlmühlfilzen. A total of about 40 dams were built by hand.
The flood event in June 2013 lead to eroded bank sections in the part of the Saalach between the hydroelectric power plant Rott-Freilasssing and the confluence of the Freilassinger Mühlbach. A part of the bankway has also been destroyed. In order to protect the resulting ecological valuable riverbank the water authority Traunstein relocated the bankway. Besides a concept of the Water authority Traunstein proposes to make more room for the river in order to promote natural bank development and improve fish migration. The ecological situation will be improved by structural measures (e.g. implementation of deadwood).
The aim is to restore the site and enhance its value, in particular through the reappropriation of the peat bog by the local inhabitants. The Pédestarrès peat bog is a site of high value for the conservation of biodiversity: one of the rare domed peat bogs in the Pyrenees characterised by habitats of priority interest, threatened species and a major functional role. It is also a site of exceptional scientific interest in terms of palynology, which has made it possible to trace the history of the vegetation of the Pyrenees over the last 27,000 years.
Just outside densely built-up area in Bergen, a 6km nature-trail has been built. The trail brings citizens closer to nature and gives great opportunities for recreation. The trail runs up on the mountains and in to the forest, and at selected points along the trail there are beautiful look-outs, picnic areas and places for children to play.
Løvstien has been built with materials and a design that will tolerate high levels of rainfall, as Bergen is experiencing a lot of rain, and are projected to get even more over the coming decades due to climate change. Løvstien is designed as a comprehensive technical and aesthetic solution with good... more
"Increases in extreme precipitation events of floods and droughts are expected to occur worldwide. The increase in extreme events will result in changes in streamflow that are expected to affect water availability for human consumption and aquatic ecosystem function."
"daily long-term data from paired watersheds that have undergone forest harvest or species conversion were used. It was found that interactive effects of climate change, represented by changes in observed precipitation trends, and forest management regime, significantly alter expected streamflow most often during extreme events." The results of this study show that vegetation... more
Between 1999 and 2005 the municipality of Dirlewang experienced 6 greater flood events, what caused damaged amounting millions. To prevent further damage a flood control reservoir was built. In the course of this the district of Schwaben also restored a 3 km long section of the Mindel. In this former canalized area, the Mindel can develop into a near-natural watercouse again.
